Club Stalker Turns 25

When this club is independent and invites innovative and talented artists instead of following the obvious paths, it becomes even more impressive. Club Stalker in Haarlem has achieved just that. In April this year, the club turns 25, having been based at its original location throughout that time and with the same management, continually fulfilling a unique and leading role in the Dutch club scene.

However, the notorious duo of French dance music are also some of the smartest samplers in the business; using old-school disco hooks to propel themselves to stardom, if that's what you can call their robot-suit clad antics these days. But before they 'didn't do cameras' without their spacesuits, they did old school sounds with a new beat. Guy J artist showcase! 1 Hour Special
Not many artists can claim a rise to fame as fast as Guy Judah out of Israel has-- in basically a year or less he's gone from a release on Electribe, Deep, and Proton Music to a 1-2-3-4-5 punch on Azuli, Renaissance, Audiotherapy, Global Underground, and finally the much coveted Bedrock. How did he do it?The key is an incredible diverse sound with each track filled with emotion, individuality, and musical expression-- this is not an endless rehash but a constant re-invention.

Ableton releases Live 6 LE version
Last week Ableton released a new 'Lite' version of their current Live 6 suite, tailored towards the beginning and aspiring dj-producer. Ableton Live 6 LE in full, is based on the same principles as its both more expansive and expensive brother, but has some restrictions. Live 6 LE restricts the number of simultaneous audio effects, the number of built in instruments and external au/vst effects per project, with the latter probably being the most effective. Moreover, the total number of audio tracks is restricted to 64, which is still a lot, considering most dance tracks don't employ more than 20 tracks per project.

365Mag Album Review: Yoshitoshi: Montreal - Mixed by Sultan
Yoshitoshi is about to release the newest edition in its well-respected Yoshitoshi series, with DJ Sultan taking care of the mixing duties. The package, entitled Yoshitoshi Montreal and due end of september, contains another load of Yoshitoshi's trademark sound of rock-solid house and progresisve in the form of mash-ups, previously unreleased tracks, and remixes. Although his name might not ring a bell immediately, Sultan has been spinning all over the world, plus having released a string of tracks that have found their way to several highly-regarded mix compilations such as Tieesto's In Search Of Sunrise 4. The Canadian native claims to have been inspired to start spinning and producing thanks to Yoshitoshi: “They were the kind of records I would play over and over again at home and at clubs and never get bored of." Sounds exciting. Let's check to see if this is another Yoshtoshi worth purchasing.

Videos | July ‘07 Beatport Selections
After getting some good feedback on my August '07 picks, well.. here's what I bought in July '07. Same format, different pics, didn't change too much.
This basically represents what tracks I picked up for that month. They aren't always the newest tracks on Beatport, it's more of what I found that stuck.
Part of me wants to keep the same basic format presentation here and be consistent while another part of me wants to jazz it up more... we'll see. Watch this video on Beatportal.com

Over twenty years, ago Patrick Bodmer and Philipp Jung met each other and became best friends. They both started to work on their music career separately but never lost sight of another. In 2001, they reunited in Frankfurt, formed the mandy. outfit and got noticed by DJ T and Patrik (The Sunsetpeople) from Frankfurt's Monza club. mandy. started as residents for the Monza club and have done so since then. A year later, they started talking about launching a label and five friends, Dj T, mandy., Walter Merziger & Arno Kammermeier (Booka Shade) started Get Physical.

Wang go back to the bass tabernacle for 2007
Wang is a small club with a big history. Its founders Lula and Electro Elvis and Lula put on their first Wang event back in 1999. Now eight years later, Wang returns on Saturday 4 August after a being on a house and techno hiatus since 2006. For nearly five years, Wang - which bills itself as 'Less of a club, more of a party!'- resided at The Premises on the Hackney Rd, but now it returns at a new location: the Corsica Studios, near Elephant & Castle in South London. But it's only the location that's changed up; there's still going to be the same mix of big name DJs (this time old school heroes Squarepusher, Billy Nasty and Shut Up & Dance), newer talent like Border Crossing and British Males, plus an intimate, friendly vibe.

Secret warehouses + crazy electronic beats = Issst

(London, UK) - Issst started life as a party platform for Tiefschwarz back in 2005. The brothers Schwarz had a track out of the same name, and everything in the electro-house garden was rosy. However, that was two years ago and the night's still going, but now it's all about the deck skills of its residents / promoters Kevin Griffiths (formerly of Fine Records, who represented Tiefschwarz) and Bobby M (DJ, producer, journalist, and all-round nice bloke).

365 Album Review: Stephan Bodzin- Liebe Ist
Stephan Bodzin has spent many years behind the scenes, producing tracks for numerous artists, until he took things in his own hands, and started Herzblut, his own label. Herzblut, which translates from German as blood from the heart, or commitment, is what characterizes this man from Bremen, as his tracks are causing mayhem on the world's dance-floors at the moment. And he seems to produce so much, under his various aliases, which include H-man (with Oliver Huntemann), Elektrochemie (with Thomas Schumacher and Caitlin Devlin), Rekorder (Huntemann), all of which garner him fame and respect.

Apparently the market for game music is hot potato, as software behemoth Microsoft has launched a competition for producers, both bedroom and pro, offering a selection of twelve game trailers that should be enriched with new, original music.
