News | Pete Tong interview
If Pete Tong hadn’t started skipping school in the 1970s, dance music would be a very different place. For whilst his school chums were writing essays, Tong was spinning discs and discovering the joys of DJing.

Extrema Outdoor brings Pete Tong, John Digweed and Border Community in July
Earlier we reported on the lineup for this year's Dance Valley festival near Amsterdam, Holland, which turned out as a bit of a disappointment for electro, minimal and progressive fans. Now, Extrema, the event's main competitor, has announced its list for 21st of July 2007 and fills the void. Whereas the Northern Dancevalley opts for harder styles, many of the more underground taste makers, both old and new, attend the Extrema Outdoor festival, this year.

Buzzin Fly on the up
London-based independant label Buzzin Fly has had a year to remember. The imprint, founded by Everything But The Girl & Lazy Dog's Ben Watt, has crashed onto the scene in a big way in 2006, with Pete Tong and John Digweed giving heavyweight backing to the label's releases of late.

Interview: Luke Chable & Danny Bonicci
Both hailing from Australia, it was back in 2004 when Luke Chable and Danny Bonnici released a track called Ride that was released on Desyn Masiello's Alternative Route label. The release caused quite a stir as IDJ chose it as their Progressive Tune of The Year, whilst Pete Tong made it one of his Essential new tunes. Quite a mean feat for Luke, who shot to instant fame after releasing the track called Accelerator, under his Quest moniker. The release was included in an incredible number of charts, licensed to eight compilations and was repressed four times due to serious demand.

James Talk Interview
Earlier this year came the second in the 'Thinking Out Loud' compilation series from up and coming DJ and producer James Talk. Hailing from Southampton, he's steadily making a name for himself with an ever growing DJ schedule including a residency at King Unique's 'Curfew' night at Turnmills. In addition to this, James has been collaborating in the studio with such names as Dave Robertson, Pete Tong and hot London production outfit Audiofly. James has recently launched his own record label Spoken Recordings and is currently hard at work on his debut artist album, due for release in early 2007. Talk is the name.. and very much his nature as this interview proves.
